To mark the Human Rights Day, Dentons Brussels joined the Amnesty International’s #WriteForRights campaign. Crowell&Moring organized remotely a “coffee corner” to celebrate Human Rights Day. “We watched this video in BreakOut rooms with 5-6 people, creating room for a lively conversation re this highly interesting and important topic. Afterwards we all met again in the main room for some further discussion and a nice cup of coffee from the Oxfam breakfast box delivered to everyone in advance.”
On the occasion of the Human Rights Day, DLA Piper – in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Serve the City Brussels – announced the launch of the Eradication of Poverty Initiative.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the significant inequalities still present in our society and the need to improve the living conditions, opportunities and the wellbeing of all. The purpose of this initiative is to contribute and provide concrete help to people in need. To this end, as of December 2021, DLA will be collecting food and other essential goods and deliver these monthly to Serve the City Brussels. The organisation will then distribute the goods across various centres, shelters and other organisations in Brussels.
DLA called upon their values Be collaborative and Be supportive to get a large contribution to this cause. And together we compiled a nice first delivery to Serve the City. As we believe that Human Rights Day is one of those days, as well as is the Eradication of Poverty Day (17 October), that need a long term commitment instead of a one short awareness event, we will repeat this every month on the 10th and deliver to Serve the City on the 17th.”
Cleary Gottlieb organized an internal webinar focusing on the Pro Bono activities of the firm concerning Human Rights.
Various lawyers talked passionately about the Human Right cases they were involved in, gave an overview of the new international projects and informed how colleagues could also join & help out.
