All 44 LDIA members proudly celebrated the WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY by organizing various events in their respective offices.
ALTIUS organized an interactive workshop, given by Nele De Peuter.
Liedekerke organised a workshop ‘Mental Vitality: why – how – what?’, led by Tom Dewettinck, a mindfulness expert from Itam. In addition to getting some interesting facts, figures and insights, Liedekerke did a stress test and meditated together. Very inspiring!
Lydian organized a healthy breakfast followed by a yoga session.
HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER organized a healthy breakfast.
Strelia decided to focus on good mental health in the workplace and therefore invited neuroscientist and founder of Feed Your Brain, Emilie Steinbach to teach everyone how to make impactful changes in the lifestyle and nutrition habits to boost mental health.
Eubelius organized a ‘Together resilient’ campaign.
Mayer Brown held a series of activities which focus on the importance of a healthy mind and body. Wellbeing events included blood glucose and cholesterol screening, on-site massage, an interactive Health Kiosk and various speaker seminars.
Herbert Smith Freehills marked World Mental Health Day with an interactive keynote speech by Petra Velzeboer on the topics of mental health at work, the role of leadership and culture and how the firm is developing a leading approach. A focus on mental health is an important part of our commitment to the Legal Diversity and Inclusion Alliance (LDIA) here in Brussels.
Taylor Wessing watched a video of TED Talk by Sangu Delle: ‘’There’s no shame in taking care of your mental health‘’, followed by an interesting discussion.
Monard Law raised awareness regarding how to guard work life balance, stress and resilience through showing some short films.
Slaughter and May, together with De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, and BonelliErede, Bredin Prat, Hengeler Mueller, and Uría Menéndez, organised a legal health talk. Dan Hunter gave a presentation on the “Travelling Ninja – How to become a master of jet-lag, acquire boundless energy and simplify eating on the go”. In his talk, Dan first focused on both the physical and mental health issues that affect our body when we frequently travel for business.
Skadden held a screening of Arianna Huffington’s speech from the 2014 OC Business Summit. The video discussed both the benefits of well-being and the positive effects it has on productivity, as well as the negative results of sleep deprivation and burnout on our psyche. Skadden also held a raffle for her book ‘The Sleep Revolution’ and handed out goodie bags containing items to encourage sleep and relaxation.
Simont Braun hosted workshops on simple-to-apply relaxation, stretching and deep-breathing techniques at the office. A well-appreciated exercise demonstrating that a few minutes can suffice to disconnect and reload batteries.
DLA Piper took the opportunity to raise awareness around mental health issues. Anne Everard spoke to our lawyers and business services about ways to keep up our energy levels in this fast moving world.
Cleary Gottlieb held a talk with Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapist Rebecca Galustian titled, “How to Turn the Pressure Cooker Down,” and provided free massage therapy sessions and healthy breakfast options.
Steptoe organized a workshop, given by Kat Van Nuffel, raising awareness about mental health in our personal lives and at the workplace.
WSGR offered its attorneys and staff a workshop on Mental Capital, presented by Florence, from Better Minds at Work. In an interactive and fun way, she explained the most important components of mental resilience, and provided useful tips to alleviate stress and risk of burnout.
Clifford Chance organised a healthy breakfast and a poster campaign for global health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma in collaboration with MHE (Mental Health Europe). Through its work on human rights and social policy, Mental Health Europe promotes the economic and social case for good mental health in the workplace and the inclusion of persons with psychosocial disabilities in the labour market.
Ashurst organised a Mental Health training session.
Younity organized a mental health week focusing on mental health at the workplace.
Interesting articles, practical tips, brain exercises and inspiring quotes were shared with everyone working at Younity. A mental health themed lunch was enjoyed while watching an interesting Ted talk on stress management and insights were exchanged.
Morrison & Foerster invited Berlin Finance partner Angela Kerek to their Brussels office to give a presentation from the MoFo Wellbeing Program. Angela is a former professional tennis player and life coach and she shared many fascinating insights!
Stibbe supported World Mental Health Day by inviting Emilie Steinbach from Feed Your Brain.
As a neuroscientist she introduced us to intelligent nutrition and gave us hints and tips to boost our brain and mental health.
